We've all had moments where our phobia or anxiety has changed our plans, made us avoid something, or led us to do something that probably looked unusual to other people.

Looking back, what is the strangest, funniest, or most unexpected thing your phobia has ever made you do?

I have a bit of a spider phobia, and one of the strangest things it ever made me do was sleep on the sofa for two nights because I saw a spider disappear behind a wardrobe in my bedroom.

I knew it was probably nowhere near me by then, but my brain kept telling me that as soon as I turned the light off it would somehow reappear.

Looking back, it sounds ridiculous. A tiny spider effectively took control of an entire room in my house!

The funny thing is that I didn't actually see the spider again. It may well have left the room completely, but that didn't stop me checking every corner before going to bed.

Phobias can be strange like that. Part of you knows the fear is out of proportion, but that doesn't make it feel any less real at the time.
