It is very helpful to see real life people challenging really life phobias. I have struggled with phobias in the past and while they are under control at the moment I always have this feeling they are lurking under the surface.

I have just re-read this article again and noticed that the vast majority of phobias seem to be linked to events in earlier life. If we can control these events in our earlier lives, so that fewer people suffer similar pressures in the future, surely this would be a good step towards controlling phobias?

I think we “inherit” or build our own phobias based on our childhood and past experiences.

Is it simply a case of re-wiring your brain to be able to tackle phobias? I have some phobias now, such as flying, which I never had in my earlier years. I actually used to love flying but it all got mixed up with a fear of confined spaces and resulted in a phobia of flying. Do I just need to "unpick" each individual issue I have?
