Great to see a social anxiety forum as part of the main website!

This social anxiety forum is a great idea as I have suffered from this for many years and struggled to find someone to talk to. Often dismissed as embarrassed or shy, this seems to be the automatic response from those who have no clue as to what you are going through. We have heard the old techniques, pretend you are talking to family and friends, pretend everybody in the front row is naked, and they should be more embarrassed then you, but it just doesn’t work for me.

The massive increase in your heart rate, sweating, the anxiety and the feeling that you just want to get out of the room are overpowering. How does everyone else control their social anxiety?

I truely believe that anxiety is the common denominator with my life of phobias - its seems as though anxiety softens me up/weakens me, making it easier for the phobias to reek their havoc.
