Can You Feel A Panic Attack Coming Before It Starts?

Some people say they can feel a panic attack building minutes or even hours before it arrives. Others say it hits completely out of nowhere.

Do you get any warning signs?

I've never personally suffered panic attacks myself, but a couple of people close to me do, and it's something we've talked about quite a lot over the years.

What I've found interesting is that both of them say they can often tell when one is building. They describe it differently, but there are usually warning signs. One says they become unusually restless and struggle to concentrate, while another notices changes in their breathing and starts feeling on edge for no obvious reason.

That said, they've also told me that not every panic attack comes with plenty of warning. Sometimes it can still catch them by surprise.

From the outside, it can be difficult to watch because you can often see something is wrong, but you can't always stop it from happening.

I'd be interested to hear from people who experience panic attacks themselves. Do you get specific warning signs every time, or does it vary from one attack to the next?
