Do we develop a fear of heights as we get older?

A fear of heights, or to give it its proper name acrophobia, is something which many of us will experience at some point in our lives. However, I recently saw an interesting report which suggests that as we get older we are more likely to develop a fear of heights.

When did your fear of heights begin? Do you feel more uneasy with heights as you get older?

Blimey, an article originating in the daily mail that makes sense.

Now, this to me is yet another instance of a fear being self preservation. average person is going to be a little less surefooted in certain situations, and a little slower to react. standing on a cliff edge is risky regardless, but when you're little older the risk increases.
